Privacy Policy

PlanShopChop ("we", "us") is a meal planning, grocery, and cooking service available on the web at planshopchop.com and as a mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email associated with that identity. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in plain text.
Your content
Recipes you import (from links, photos, or text), recipes you generate, your meal plans, shopping lists, and saved plans are stored so the service can show them back to you across your devices.
Billing information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We store your subscription status and plan so the app knows what you have access to. Stripe's handling of your payment details is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
Technical data
Our servers keep standard request logs (IP address, request time, endpoint) for security and debugging. Our marketing site uses Plausible, a cookieless analytics tool that collects only anonymous, aggregated statistics. We do not use advertising trackers, and the mobile app contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
AI processing
PlanShopChop's core features are AI-powered. When you import a recipe, generate one with Ask Chef, or build a smart shopping list, the relevant content (the recipe text, photo, or your request) is sent to third-party AI providers — Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), and OpenAI — to fulfill that request. We send only what the feature needs, and this processing happens under those providers' API terms.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: syncing your recipes, plans, and lists across devices.
- To process your subscription and free trial.
- To send transactional email (account confirmation, password reset).
- To respond when you contact support.
- To keep the service secure and diagnose problems.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your content to train our own models.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run PlanShopChop: Supabase (authentication and database), Railway and Cloudflare (hosting), Stripe (payments), and the AI providers listed above. Each receives only what its role requires. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app, or by emailing [email protected]. Deletion removes your account and your content — recipes, plans, and lists — and cancels any active subscription. Some minimal records (like payment history required for tax and accounting) may be retained where the law requires it.
Security
All traffic to and from PlanShopChop is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Data is stored with providers that encrypt at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the surface small: no ad networks, no data brokers, no third-party scripts in the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Email [email protected] and we'll handle it. We respond to all requests regardless of jurisdiction.
Children
PlanShopChop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and note the change on this page. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
